They accuse him of keeping 600,000 € which they had paid him for furniture for homes in different areas where he was operating, such as Bulgaria, Turkey and Morrocco.
El País reports that the lawyers say most of the deals were done in the company’s offices in Marbella, in the old Club Financiero building which was the command centre for Jesús Gil when he was mayor of the town. The lawyers claim that the company was left without any assets with a move to a ‘ghost office’ in Madrid, allegedly administered by a 90 year old man from Peru.
The 35 year old Irish businessman, who is also owner of Peterborough United football club, wrote on his blog over the weekend that his company had offered cheap furniture to its clients because he could buy it wholesale. He said there were thousands of clients and everything went well until the recession.
He denies any fraud, and said that he had been left without the furniture by the suppliers.
