Ángel Matías, Director of the Baleares Port Authority, was arrested on Tuesday as a new search was ordered of the Port Authority offices in the corruption investigation ‘Mar Blau’. Also taken into custody was the engineer, Justo Aguado, and it’s understood that both men’s homes were searched by order of Instruction Court No. 8 in the city.
They have both previously been questioned as suspects in the case.
A third address was searched in Barcelona and a third person, whose identity has not been revealed, was arrested.
It’s understood that the alleged crimes under investigation are misuse of public funds, bribery and fraud.
The case relates to alleged irregularities in concessions awarded to the company Trapsa Yates by the Port Authority for the management of berths in Mahón and Ibiza.
